WAYYYYYYYYYY TOO LONG!!!!

A whole lot has taken place since the last blog post dated some time in April of 2017. I feel bad that I haven't kept up with this. The blog started out as a way to keep the new troop informed but really turned into a history of the troops very early days. I need to do a better job of keeping up with this many things have changed for the troop.

Most notably since the last blog is that the troop moved from St. Marks to its new home- The Nash Road Free Methodist Church. The move has been wonderful for the troop and the church. Pastor Jeff and Margaret are fantastic people and have really gotten on board with the troop and what we are about. Its a great fit and we couldn't be happier. The move happened officially at the start of this year, January 2019. In reality we started meeting here at the beginning of the school year. Good things to come over many years I hope.

I would also like to add that Cole K. became the first Eagle Scout of the troop today and we are expecting that AJ and Michael will make Eagle by the end of this year as well. Many big things happening for the troop. Keep up the good work!

It has been WAYYYYYY too long since a blog has been posted. I thought this would be an appropriate time. I would like to congratulate Greg M and Carter T for their nomination into the Order of the Arrow. Well deserved for both of them.

I would also like to acknowledge the Jr. Leaders in the troop:

Michael R as SPL, Carter T as ASPL, Cole K as PL of Phoenix, Ayden E returning as PL of the Blue Wolf and for the first time David C as PL of the new Black Panther patrol. The Falcon Patrol will select a new PL at the next meeting.

1st Annual Elk Lick International

This year we took 6 scouts, myself and one lucky dad down to Farmers valley, PA for the new/old event formerly called Calumet. Everyone had a good time and this year everyone managed to get a ride in the Jeeps up the mountain. That was very fun, even with a slightly aggravated back. The weather was great until Saturday night (of course) when the flood gates opened and the down pour ensued. It wouldn't be Elk Lick without the rain though. This is a great end of summer camp out for the troop.

Camp Barton

Summer camp this year was a new and exciting event for both the troop and everyone that attended. Including me. We traveled to the eastern side of Cayuga Lake, Trumansburgh, NY to be exact. What a great little camp that sits on a large lake that is meant for sailing. The scouts in the troop took to the camp right away and once they got the lay of the land they had no problem getting around. One of the highlights of the week was the entertainment that the camp provided in the dinning hall and at the Campfires. They certainly have a rich tradition at the camp and some memorable personalities. This was the most scouts that troop 931 had ever taken to summer camp and everyone should be proud of that. A TON of merit badges were earned and the newer scouts were able to finish many of the basic requirements for rank advancement. Many of the scouts remarked about wanting to return to the camp in the future, which we may have to do. Please share your thoughts about the camp.

Both the Falcon Patrol and the Phoenix Patrol spent the weekend at SSR from 11.13-15.15. The patrols did patrol cooking this weekend. Both did very well with their meals. Scouts also worked on Compass work while hiking around camp.
