Troop 931 was right back at it tonight at our first meeting of this school year. The PLC met and planned out meetings to the first part of October. Map & compass work and first aid being a theme in several of the meetings. The PLC is really starting to take charge of the planning now with guidance. Mr. Burke continued to review Map & compass skills in preparation for the November camp out. Almost a full house tonight. I think we were only a couple of boys short.
Members of Troop 931 went on a short canoe trip today in the Erie Canal. Seems like this is turning out to be an annual thing. The weather was, well, OK. A little damp in the morning but was nicer by the afternoon. We had 8 scouts and four adults attend. The scouts also prepared a lunch on the trip and worked on identifying 10 different types of animals along the way. The boys didn't even leave the boat launch without first finding several baby snapping turtles. Along the way a tennis ball was found and a fun game of catch was played between the canoes. We had a nice mix of experience with the boys and everyone had fun. Look for another canoe day in late spring were the troop might make it a weekend of camping and canoeing. |
