The patrols went over material for Camping MB tonight. They took a look at packs and sleeping systems. The weekends camp out at SSR is in question as well. Due the heavy snow fall that they have received at camp and the driving bans in place, we may not be able to hold the event. Alternate plans may need to be made. (as it turned out, Cowlesville, where SSR is, received the highest snow fall in the two period than any other location hit by the storm that WNY endured. 88" or 7' fell in 48 hours)

The meeting tonight was largely planned out and run by our SPL, Greg. Greg worked to provide a skills instruction lesson on Camping equipment and proper clothing to be wearing in the winter weather. Overall he did a nice job of it. later, the patrols worked on finishing up on the planned camp out and other advancement for scouts. At the close of the meeting general announcements were made as well as the awarding of some badges: Archaeology MB was presented to Cole K. Cole also was presented with his Tenderfoot rank. Eammon B. was also presented with his Second Class rank. Congrats to both scouts!
Plans were made for the November camp out that has now been moved to the 21-23. Practice was done working on map and compass skills as well as menus and duty rosters. It was a productive meeting overall. The troop was also presented with a gift from Mr. Kennedy, a new patrol box! This new box is larger and was designed to fit our specific gear into it. It was a great present to the troop and we all thank Mr. Kennedy and his family a great deal. |
