What a great hike we had today! the troop covered just over the 5 mile mark while hiking along some of the most scenic areas of WNY. Even despite a little wet weather and humidity, the troop did a nice job. those scouts needing to demonstrate Map and compass orientation did so at the start of the hike. See the picture page for some great shots of the hike!

Mr. Kindron conducted the first session of First Aid MB this evening. the main focus tonight was to cover the first aid skills required in Tenderfoot, 2nd class, and 1st class. We were able to make it most of the way through but still have some areas to finish up.
Next week scouts should have with them their personal first aid kits and family first aid kits if they did not bring one tonight. Troop 931 held its annual planning meeting this evening. The meeting was attended by the troop ASPL, both the Lighting PL and the Honey Badger PL as well as the Honey Badger APL, both of the troop scribes, Mr. Kindron, Mr. Burke and Mr. Rotolo. The calendar for the 2014-15 year was planned and outlined including camp outs, PLC meetings, and other special events. Please see the troop calendar for details.
Troop 931 held its last COH for the 2013-14 year tonight. Everyone should congratulate Andrei K. for obtaining the rank of Second Class. Andrei is well under way to reach First Class in no time at all as well. Also, please congratulate Cole K. for earning 4 merit badges. Movie Making, Game Design, Soil & Water Conservation and Bird Study. Outstanding job considering he just became a Boy Scout in April. We also welcomed two new scouts who joined from Pack 185, Ethan and Brendan. Welcome to the troop.
Afterwards Mr. Burke worked with everyone on Map and Compass skills in preparation for the Gorge Hike. Scouts were also reminded of upcoming events as summer camp, first aid merit badge, and the planning meeting next week. Check with your Patrol Leader for info on any thing going on. Saturday morning 4 members of the troop and a lone Cub Scout did a valuable service project for our local Knights of Columbus. Along with three adult leaders the scouts moved picnic benches, swept under a shelter, moved dirt, refurbished horseshoe pits, and picked up litter. We also removed a truck load of old folding chairs. Everyone should give Elliott, Kadin, Eammon and Cole along with Charlie from Pack 193, a big hand for a job well done. Also, don't forget the leaders that helped out, Mrs. Rotolo, Mr. Kennedy, and Mr. Kindron.
