Saturday was a bit on the damp side but that didn't stop the scouts from Troop 931 and Pack 193 from doing their part in helping to keep the community a little cleaner. Both groups took part in the Canal Clean Sweep project in North Tonawanda. The project actually covers the entire Erie Canal system in NYS with volunteers helping locally to clean it up. Taking part from the troop was Michael R., Gregory M., Eammon B., and Gabe C. Nice job everyone who pitched in to help out.

The troop had a swim night tonight at Byblos Resort and Spa. The old Holiday Inn on GI for those of you that have been around for a while. It was a good night of getting some swimming in. The scouts worked on and completed the swimming requirements for both Second Class and First Class rank badges. For those going to summer camp this year and working on the Swimming MB, this meets part of those requirements as well. I think that we may schedule another night of swimming in June to further practice some different techniques.
Troop 931 took part in the Reality Check program last night which educates youth about the dangers of Smoking and Tobacco use. The program involved discussing the dangers and what youth can do to spread the word about the dangers. It was a very hands on program. We would like to thank Michelle Heller for her time and efforts teaching our troop about this very important topic. the troop also welcomed two of the four new scouts to the meeting last night. Cole and Eammon were presented with the Scout Badge. We look forward to meeting the other two scouts at our next meeting. Please check the Troop Calendar! We went to camp as four scouts and came back as 7. That's because three of Pack 193's Webelos II scouts crossed over on Saturday at camp and joined the troop. The troop stayed in tents (the only ones in camp to do so) for the weekend. Friday night we were visited by as many as twenty yellow spotted salamanders. It was hard to walk around camp without stepping on one. The troop welcomes our newest members and we look forward to many great adventures together. The Troop prepared for the weekend camp out tonight, reviewing the menu and duty roster. They also worked a bit more on Camping MB, discussing and looking at the different types of packs and sleeping bags available and their uses.
