They did their best in the derby race as well but competition was fierce. Talk is already going on about making a more race worthy sled for next year. Our esteemed scoutmasters also participated in the Scoutmaster cook off. Having won it last year expectations were high. Ultimately, we gave it our best shot but did not return the trophy back to 931. Honorable mention was given however for our pulled pork, chili and corn bread. The best part however was that enough was left over that the troop ate well.
Here we are at our second Klondike Derby at Camp Stonehaven. The weather was perfect actually for such an event with plenty of fresh snow on the ground, sun in the sky and a brisk January chill in the air. The troop attempted to make its way through the events but ran into a complication at their first event that would ultimately prevent them from reaching any others. In their defense, they were held up not of their own doing. A good learning experience for everyone involved however. Nothing serious.

Troop 931 spent the meeting this week getting gear ready for the Klondike. The patrol box was reorganized (so well that some things never made it back in) and pack inspections were done. The meeting was a busy one. The scouts are excited to go to Klondike.

More of the scouts seem to be taking advantage of all of the merit badge classes being offered and the scouts that have been working on advancement are doing their part to help catch others up.
The troop recently helped out at the Knights of Columbus doing a little community service work at their pancake breakfast. |
