The evening was spent getting ready for West Point. Pack inspections were done and forms were gone over. The Patrol box and gear was loaded into the trailer (we rented one) and packs were into the truck. It almost reads like a Night Before Christmas. It felt that way anyway. Excitement was in the air and a great adventure waist ahead. We also have a new scout, Tristan B. from Pack 193. Welcome!

What a night! To start things off, the troop held it first ever Order of the Arrow election. Eammon was the eligible scout and was successfully nominated as a candidate. Also, Mr. Rotolo was nominated by the troop committee for selection into the Order of Arrow as well. Both will need to attend an upcoming Ordeal weekend to become members.
The troop also welcomed in several new scouts that crossed over from Pack 193 and Pack 185. An induction ceremony was conducted to welcome them into the troop. This was followed by the presentation of awards, with several scouts being recognized for having earned merit badges and rank advancement. Mr. Kindron awarded Elliott the Rank of Tenderfoot and Eammon the Rank of First Class. He also started a new tradition by presenting Eammon with a handmade Turks Head woggel. The woggle is all black to represent the troop colors. It is also a two stranded Turks Head made from paracord. All future scouts that achieve the rank of First Class will also receive this recognition. Following the COH, Troop elections were held. Eammon was elected as the new SPL in a very close contest with Michael. Only one vote difference. Michael was appointed as the new ASPL. The Phoenix Patrol elected Greg as the new PL and Luke was appointed as the APL. The New Scout Patrol elected Gabe as its new PL and Carter was selected as the the APL. My congratulations to all of the scouts in the troop tonight. Our four scouts, Cole, Eammon, Michael and AJ represented the troop at Pack 193 Cross Over. We welcomed several new scouts into the brotherhood of Boy Scouts. They also joined in the Canal Sweep Clean Up conservation project along the Erie Canal in North Tonawanda on Saturday morning for three hours. They all worked hard and we were joined by Gabe Cr. and Mr. Burke when we arrived. Several of the new scouts stayed in Tuscarora Lean To while the four older scouts stayed in Stone Lean To. A nice campfire was shared with stories and plenty of laughs. Good things to come!
It was a good night tonight. The scouts prepared final details for the weekend trip to Stonehaven. Only four scouts it turns out will be attending. This is down from around 8 as was previously indicated. No matter, we will make it work! the rest of the night was dedicated to working on advancement. A new scouts joined the troop, coming from Pack 185, Tyler A. Welcome! Last but certainly not least, I would like to congratulate Elliott for achieving the rank of Tenderfoot tonight. Nice job! Elliott will receive his Rank award at next weeks COH.
Troop 931 welcomes its newest patrol, The Phoenix patrol. Due to low numbers in the lightning patrol and the Honeybadger patrol being down a few members, it was decided that the patrols merge. The troop is expecting a sizable group of webelos to join this month that will give us our second patrol. The Scoutmaster reviewed with each scout present tonight their current advancement to make sure that everyone has up to date records. Scouts worked on advancement skills this evening. We also had a visiting Webelos scout from Pack 185 looking to join the Troop. |
